Job Summary:

The Material Handler I is responsible for retrieving product and assessing the load is safe to be transported. Then, in a safe manner, move product by use of a forklift, pallet jacks, and/or other equipment as needed and required. They shall accurately post the transaction of the inventory movement based on the document request.  The Material Handler I is required to report any safety issues or work concerns to a supervisor or management team immediately.  Material Handler I shall have the knowledge and expertise to perform the core work activities in at least one of the three Warehouse Functional Areas referenced below and authorized by the area supervisor.

Responsibilities:

  • Work in a safe manner, following all safety rules and procedures
  • Assure that all company SOP, GMP, and SQF policies are followed
  • Assure that all workers and/or visitors who enter the shipping processing/production/receiving areas are following GMP’s and SOP’s and they wear proper PPE’s as required including hair and beard nets
  • Material Handler is required to keep the warehouse, shipping docks, receiving docks, finished and raw goods inventory clean, neat, and audit-ready at all times
  • Material Handler is responsible to load/unload incoming and outgoing freight
  • Guarantee product is properly marked/labeled and accurately identified in warehouse locations at all times
  • Assure that all material handling equipment is clean, neat and in good working order. Report damages immediately
  • Participate in Year-End Physical and perform daily cycle counts following the SOP guidelines
  • Support 7S standards throughout the warehouse
  • Perform any other duties as assigned
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends and overtime when necessary
  • Material Handler will receive raw material from supplier/carrier and will notate any visible damage on BOL prior to letting the driver leave
  • Responsible to move checked-in raw material into raw material storage locations by use of forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment as necessary
  • Accurately post receipts to purchase orders daily
  • Respond to stock outs, material related errors and support Production Operators
  • Provide all raw materials required for production to the floor accurately and timely
  • Assist with auditing, reconciling quantities and posting of production work order

 Follow all company procedures and policies, especially with respect to Safety, Food Safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)

Education/ Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 1-2 years of experience in a Warehouse environment preferred
  • Basic math concepts
  • Bilingual-Spanish a plus
  • Basic computer skills and understanding of excel spreadsheets
  • Knowledge of Food Safety Regulations helpful
  • Good interpretive and/or reactive skills
  • Manufacturing environment experience a plus
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing Methodology and Warehouse Management Software.
  • Team experience preferred
  • Forklift experience (Sit down, stand up and pallet riders)

Pay: $22.15
